San Antonio, TX - Jan/Feb/Mar - 2011
We arrived back in San Antonio just in time to spend Christmas with the family. We had to usual 50+ people gathered for the family's traditional Christmas dinner (tamales, chili, beans, rice, tortillas -- oh, and pumpkin pie.)
This winter, San Antonio had a very unusual cold spell that lasted for several days. We even had snow and an ice storm that shut down all the freeways in town for an entire morning. Luckily, we didn't have to venture out on that nasty weather day. Here is Scotty checking out our snow-covered patio.

Our time in San Antonio was spent with the usual activities -- visiting family and friends, taking care of medical, dental and vet appointments. Getting some repairs done to the RV and car and taking care of maintenance stuff. We also helped Frank's Mom with a few projects around her house. Somehow the months whizzed by and before we knew it, spring was in the air (along with the heat and humidity) and it was time to leave.
For the first two months in town, we stayed at Blazing Star RV -- our usual place to plant for it's convenience to Frank's Mom's house. We'd intended to leave town in late February, but during his annual vet exam, Scotty was diagnosed with congestive heart failure -- the same thing that our other dog Rudy died from. We had to start him on heart medications and we wanted to stay in town for a couple more weeks to make sure he was going to tolerate the new medicine. We spent those two weeks at Frank's sister's house on the east side of San Antonio. They have 10 acres and full hookups for our RV and we got to enjoy a delightful visit with her and her family.
