Saratoga Springs, UT - Oct/Nov 2010

We left northern New Mexico around the first of October and were heading to Salt Lake City, UT to enjoy a family reunion with my brother and his family and my folks.

On our way there, we stopped at Green River State Park -- along I-70. It's a refreshing stop, with plenty of shade trees, green grass and good-sized spaces. There are no hookups, but a very nice stop on the way to Salt Lake.
My brother and his family live in the community of Saratoga Springs. It is south of Salt Lake and on the western shore of Utah Lake. The homesites are terraced up a hill and have spectacular views of the lake, the Wasatch Mountains and Mt. Timpanogos. We parked in my brother's driveway and walked every day up to this vantage point just to enjoy the sweeping, panoramic view.
During our stay, my nephew Dan and his family arrived. He is in the Navy and they were on their way from Hawaii to Georgia and were able to stop for a week to visit. Here is my brother enjoying being "Grandpa" to his newest grandbaby -- Leilah.
We were in town over Halloween and got to re-live this traditional trick-or-treat holiday. This neighborhood is very safe and the neighbors all know each other, therefore it is a given that the children will go knocking door-to-door (something that had been non-existent in our former neighborhood in Austin.) After our niece Holly got dressed up in her stunning Cleopatra attire, she took off to gather candy and we stayed home and passed out the treats. I swear, there were more than 200 kids making the rounds. It was great fun.
One day, we took a drive on the Alpine Loop and enjoyed the fall foliage in the Utah mountains.
Not only once, but twice, we got snow. By mid-November we decided it was time to head south.
