Lavender Festival - Sequim, WA - Jul 2009

Sequim (pronounced Skwim) has the perfect (and pretty rare) climate to grow lavender and as such, is home to about a dozen lavender farms. Each year they host the Lavender Festival -- an outdoor event with just about everything you can think of relating to lavender. Our favorite thing was touring the lavender farms and seeing the acres and acres of purple blooms.
Who knew there were so many different kinds of lavender -- in shades from pale lavender to deep purple.

And the lavender paraphernalia -- my goodness, I was amazed. Of course there were the usual soaps, lotions, sachets and perfumes, but who knew about tea, coffee, jelly and even cookies. I have new appreciation for all things lavender.
