Lava Butte - Bend, OR - May 2009

On another clear and sunny day we went to the Lava Lands Visitor Center and drove up to the top of Lava Butte. From there we had incredible views of the area.

Lava Lands is part of the larger national monument Newberry Volcanic Park. This is the view from Lava Butte over to Newberry Volcano.

There is a lookout tower on the top of Lava Butte. It was closed when we were there, but we could climb up the ladder and walk around the catwalk and enjoy the outstanding views.
