Utah Lake S.P. - Provo, UT - Apr 2009

Our plans had us heading towards Salt Lake City to meet up with my brother and his family who were in town for a week while they checked out the area as a possible place to relocate upon retirement.

I struggled to find an acceptable rv park in the city, but did not have much luck. I will admit that we are spoiled about staying in picturesque campgrounds so, faced with having to choose between a "squeeze-em-in-like-sardines" RV park that was closer to the city or staying further out, but in a roomy and scenic state park, we chose the latter and ended up at Utah Lake State Park near Provo. Besides the better scenery, it also costs almost half of what the private RV parks in Salt Lake City are charging -- and the views -- priceless.

The park was nearly empty, so we had our pick of sites. While we had excellent views of the snow-covered mountains, we could not see the lake from our site. However, a very short walk and we were at water's edge and we enjoyed several long walks around this area of the lake.

Sunsets often painted the snowy peaks a pastel pink -- pretty all on its own, but even better when reflected in the lake.
