Hords Creek Lake, TX - Nov 2011
How do you go from 13 degrees to 80 degrees in two days? It's simple -- just leave Rociada, NM and drive 500 miles to Hords Creek Lake, TX. We left Rociada on Friday and on Saturday, we arrived at Hords Creek Lake and got our favorite lakeside campsite.
Last week we were bundled up and enjoying the snow and cold nights in the mountains of New Mexico (see previous post.) While we really enjoyed the crisp cool fall weather, the forecast for Rociada showed us a week of winds, cold and snow -- something that we didn't want to deal with, so we decided it was time to head south for the winter. Today, we are in our shorts and enjoying 80 degree sunshine. Aah -- the beauty of fulltime RVing. We're going to linger around Hords Creek for a few days -- until my folks arrive. They were planning to meet up with us in Llano next week, but they got delayed with some motorhome repairs. Things are fixed now and they plan to be here by week's end and we're really looking forward to seeing them since it's been a year since we've been together.
Oh yeah -- another member of our household who wanted to doff his winter coat -- Scotty. He doesn't tolerate the warm weather, so today I shaved off his fur. I think he looks better with his soft, fuzzy and cuddly coat, but he's much more comfortable now that he's shaved down. Here are before and after photos.
