Shore Acres SP, OR - Oct 2006
One day we took a drive down near Coos Bay to enjoy a stroll around Shore Acres State Park. This park is a great example of the contrasts in scenery along the Oregon coast. The park is perched atop a cliff with views looking out over wave sculpted rocks. On one side of the park the harsh beatings of the waves have sculpted wild and weird formations in the rocks. On the other side of the park, the staff naturalists have created a magical botanical garden -- complete with manicured lawns, overflowing flower beds and pathways that meander through flower filled nooks and crannies. What a delightful stop this was.
Here are Grace & George posing in front of one of the numerous flower beds. The flowers in bloom at the time were mostly dahlias, but there were also a few late blooming hydrangeas and a lovely rose garden. It was a cool and cloudy day, but the colorful blooms brightened up our moods just as much as a dose of sunshine.Here are some close-ups of two of my favorites:
