Lake Walcott SP, ID - Aug 2006

Lake Walcott State Park was just an OK spot to stay -- we'd planned on three nights here and only stayed for one. The park itself was nice -- lots of grass and large shade trees and a great picnic area right on the water. However, the RV parking area was recently added and while it was paved and had grassy sites, the trees were too small to provide any shade and the sites were so closely packed together that there was no privacy at all. Also, the swarm of bugs was a constant nuisance -- and walking and talking outside, no matter what time of day, was a sure way to eat some insects. Even though we got a site with a lakeview the combination of bugs, lack of privacy and the heat drove us off to our next destination.
