What a delightful treat awaited us at
Hords Creek Lake COE Park near Coleman, Texas. I had read that this was a great park if you liked lakeside camping and it did not disappoint us. With nearly 80 sites, there were plenty of sites to choose from and each one was either right on the water or had a great view of the lake. The live oaks were large and plentiful and the sites large and roomy.

We stayed here for two weeks and had to change sites once because it was reserved out from underneath us -- grrr. But both sites were lovely -- right at water's edge and plenty of elbow room.

Our loop in the campground sat on a small peninsula and from our site we had a 270° view of the lake. Because of that, we enjoyed colorful sunrises AND sunsets over the water. How cool is that!

For most of our visit we were the only campers in the loop, so we were able to let the dogs sit outside off leash. They loved it and were very good about staying close to home. Here's Scotty enjoying a sunny day outside.

Just another view of our lakeside site. This is now one of our top three favorite places in Texas.

One more beautiful sunset shot from Hords Creek Lake.
