17 Mile Drive-Monterey, CA - Nov 2006

Another "must do" activity when visiting Monterey is to go on the 17 Mile Drive. We spent an entire day just cruising along the ocean, stopping at the many sites, ogling the gorgeous homes and taking a mini-tour of the Pebble Beach Golf Course and Resort. This was looking out over the bay towards Point Joe.

A popular stop for wildlife viewing -- Bird Rock (in the background) was located just down the road from Pebble Beach. The huge rock was covered with nesting cormorants, seagulls, pelicans and quite a few sea lions. We also saw several otters frolicking in the waters in this area. Wasn't it nice of this little gull to pose for me!

The Pebble Beach putting green -- right next to the promenade of shops. While at the Pebble Beach Resort we checked out the lodge, shops and putting green -- all lovely and the landscaping was manicured to the hilt. We were definitely underdressed in our jeans & t-shirts and I didn't dare go into any of the stores as I couldn't even afford to window shop there.

The weather was pretty nice -- a little cloudy/overcast, but we still had blue skies for most of it. This was taken from a spot on the drive looking out over Stillwater Cove towards the Pebble Beach golf course. What a lovely setting -- one that would make it hard to concentrate on the game.
