Denver, CO - Jul 2006

While in Denver, we (Chris, Frank and Chris's folks Grace & George) stayed for a week at Cherry Creek State Park. We liked this park for it's convenience to our many family members who live in Aurora -- a suburb of Denver and right next to the campground. Cherry Creek is a large campground with roomy sites and full hookups. The only thing we didn't like was the $7 day use fee that they charged us to exit and re-enter the park. Since we pretty much went in/out of the park every day, that additional fee was a real irritant.

We spent most of our time visiting with family and catching up on some "big city" shopping opportunities including a stop at Camping World. We didn't do much sightseeing as we had steady rain for three days in a row (a rarity in Denver and much welcomed by the locals as it ended a very long drought) and on all the other days we had afternoon thunderstorms. Sadly, our Fourth of July fireworks show was rained out, but that didn't stop Scotty from celebrating the holiday in his own way.

Our Denver family includes two of my cousins and their families, my sister-in-law and also my niece (who is attending college in Denver) -- so we kept busy with lots of visiting. It was great to see everyone and catch up on their lives and also to meet the newest member of the family -- little Adrienne who, at a mere 8 months old, was absolutely adorable.

The saddest part of our recent travels happened in Denver where, after a month of traveling together, we said our goodbyes to my folks as they left to head back to California. We had a wonderful time with them and thoroughly enjoyed their good company. We experienced some awesome sights together, ate lots of (too much?) good food and shared tons of fun times. We can't wait for them to join us on another adventure.
